The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners 2020 baseball season will begin in less than three months. Head Coach Jud Kindle has already begun assembling student-athletes for the 2021 season. He recently announced the first five additions to his recruiting class who will begin their academic and athletic careers at SFCC in the fall.

Wesley Oswald is a 6'8'' pitcher from Belleville, Illinois who plays high school baseball for Head Coach Randy Miller at Christ Preparatory Academy. Oswald has earned honor roll distinction during his high school career.

"Wesley has a lot of potential," said Kindle. "He is extremely tall and his arm works well. He has a ways to go on learning how to be a pitcher. At the same time, he has all the tools to be something special. He seems like a great kid off of the field as well."

Jalen Rogers is a 6'1'' pitcher from Lee's Summit who plays high school baseball at Lee's Summit North High School for Head Coach Mike Westacott.

"Jalen reminds me a lot of former Roadrunner Jake McMahill," said Kindle. "He has an extremely loose and clean arm. He needs to develop an off-speed pitch and continue to learn how to be a pitcher. He's another athletic kid who could be a starter or reliever."

Roy Holcomb is a 5'11 pitcher/infielder from St. Joseph who plays his high school baseball at St. Joseph Central High School in St. Joseph, Missouri for Head Coach Brent Seifert.

Holcomb earned First-Team All-Conference and First-Team All-City to go along with First-Team All St. Joseph News Press.

"Roy has what it takes to go right into our starting rotation," said Kindle. "He is an extremely good pitcher. He is an extremely competitive kid. Roy just needs to continue to let his body develop. We see him as one of our top pitchers."

Westley Brandsgaard is a 6'3'' catcher from Chillicothe. He plays high school baseball at Chillicothe High School for Head Coach Canaan Fairley.

Brandsgaard has earned Second-Team All-State catcher to go along with First-Team All-District and First-Team All-Conference honors. He is also a standout basketball player earning First-Team All-District and First-Team All-Conference. Brandsgaard is also a member of the National Honor Society and was named Academic All-State..

"Westley is very athletic, that is one thing I can say about all five of these student-athletes," said Kindle. "He is a big physical kid with a pretty good left-handed swing. We think that he can do good things for us behind the plate. We will develop and improve on some of his fundamentals."

Tucker Nunnenkamp is a 6'3'' pitcher from Lee's Summit. He plays high school baseball at Lee's Summit North High School for Head Coach Mike Westacott. He earned Second-Team All-Conference during his junior season.

"Tucker has all the tools to be a good pitcher," said SFCC Pitching Coach John Cavness. "He just needs to get stronger. His velocity sits around between 80 and 83 miles-per-hour, his stuff works. He is quick to the plate and throws a lot of strikes. I expect him to compete for a job in our rotation. He is a quality kid."

"We were looking for quality young men both on and off the field," said Cavness. "I think we got that with all five of these student-athletes."
