Jimmy Lassiter

Jimmy Lassiter Jimmy Lassiter came to SFCC in 1971 from his hometown of Freedom, Pa., and played during the 1971-1972 basketball season. The 1972 Exhibitor called him “the most explosive offensive threat to don a Roadrunner uniform.” The 6-foot-3 freshman forward is said to have had lightning-fast reflexes and “elusive ball handling, passing and dribbling” skills. By mid-season he had broken SFCC’s Roadrunner career scoring record. In 1972 he was named an All-Region 16 player and a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American player. That year he led SFCC to the NJCAA national tournament in Hutchinson, Kan., one of only two trips ever made to nationals by an SFCC men’s basketball team.
