Roadrunners Soccer Season Recap

With nine wins this season, the State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners soccer team had its most successful regular season since the program resumed.

"This was their first winning season, which means something," said Roadrunners Soccer Head Coach Jaime Beltran. "We were able to beat St. Louis Community College for the first time. We got some other unexpected wins and we had some strong individual performances from a team that was freshman heavy."

The Roadrunners clinched the number three seed in the Region 16 Tournament. Other highlights included freshman defender Aaron Collins of England, who earned a spot on the NJCAA All-American Ballot. Sophomore goalkeeper Sebastian Aguero set the program record for the most minutes in the goal without conceding a goal.

Six Roadrunners earned All-Conference honors in the Missouri Community College Athletic Conference. Freshman Aaron Collins of England, sophomore Sebastian Aguero of Sedalia, and Jackson Ralph of New Zealand were named First-Team.

Collins played in all 17 games for the Roadrunners and started in 16. He was a big part of the back line for SFCC. He took 11 shots for the Roadrunners.

Aguero played and started 13 games in goal for SFCC. He compiled a .95 goals-against average and made 44 saves. He had a .786 save percentage with eight wins in goal and five shutouts.

Ralph played and started in 16 games for SFCC. He contributed a goal and an assist from the back line. He is a returning All-Conference player from last season.

Sophomore Aaron Latimer of Amarillo, Texas, freshman Tebello Ntene of Lesotho and sophomore Mani Hondroudakis of Australia all earned Second-Team honors.

Latimer played in all 17 games and started in 10 and compiled three goals and two assists. He had eight points, which placed him third on the team. He scored a pair of game-winning goals, which tied him for the team lead.

Ntene played in 17 games and started in 16. He scored a goal and contributed an assist as a freshman. He took 28 shots and 15 were on goal.

Hondroudakis played in, and started all 17 games for the Roadrunners. He led the team in goals with four, assists with six, and points with 14.

Collins was named First-Team All-Region 16.  Aguero and Latimer of earned Second-Team recognitions.

"We have some work to do this spring," said Beltran. "We have a large returning group, so we will be able to build toward the way we want to play in the fall."
