Three Lady Roadrunners have been named to the Missouri Community College Athletic Conference All-Conference Women's Basketball Team, as voted by conference coaches. Sophomore guards Monique Esbrand of London, England and Jazzmyn Elston of Rossville, Georgia earned First-Team honors and freshman guard Nokoia White of Ennis, Texas was named to the Second-Team.
Esbrand played in 22 games, starting in 21 for SFCC this season. She averaged 11.9 points per contest which placed her second on the team in scoring. Esbrand scored a season-high 24 points twice, once against Butler Community College (Kansas) and in Region 16 play against Jefferson College. She finished second on the team and 46th in the nation in free-throw percentage at 79.8. Esbrand led her team in three-point field goal percentage at 37.6%. She pulled down a team-high eight rebounds from a guard position and dished out a team-high three assists per game. She also led her team in steals with 1.3 per game.
"Monique has changed a lot since she first arrived on campus," said Lady Roadrunners Basketball Head Coach Kevin Bucher. "She has made steady progress and has improved greatly in a short period of time. We are very excited for Monique and glad to see that she was recognized by the coaches in the Conference."
Elston is a two-time All-Conference selection earning Second-Team honors as a freshman. She led her team in scoring at 15.9 points per game while playing in 24 games and starting in 21. Elston scored a season-high 29 points against Dodge City Community College. She knocked down a team-high 83.1% of her free-throw attempts (tied for 15th in the country) and registered 1.2 steals per contest (second on her team).
"Jazzmyn had a great year to finish out her career here at SFCC," said Bucher.
White played and started in 20 games as a freshman. She finished third on the team in scoring with 10.3 points per game. She pulled down 5.5 rebounds from a guard spot, which placed her third on her team in rebounds per game. White dished out 1.8 assists per contest, which also placed her third on her team. She scored a career-high 19 points in a game against Jefferson College.
"Nokoia really came on toward the end of the season," said Bucher. "She was a team leader who did a nice job of leading by example."
