Lady Roadrunners Basketball Recap Jan.11

January 11 Three Rivers Community College at Sedalia

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners opened the second semester with a 56-53 hard-fought loss to the Three Rivers Community College Lady Raiders in a Region 16/Missouri Community College Athletic Conference (MCCAC) game on Jan. 11 in Sedalia.

SFCC trailed 16-14 at the end of one quarter. The Lady Roadrunners fought back to take a 31-27 lead into halftime courtesy of a three-point shot from sophomore guard Jazzmyn Elston (Rossville, Georgia). However, Three Rivers made just enough plays down the stretch to secure the victory.

Elston led the Lady Roadrunners in scoring with 24 points. She also registered a team-high two blocked shots. Sophomore guard Monique Esbrand (London, England) dished out a team-high six assists. Sophomore forward Brionna Hill (Dover, Delaware) pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.

"It was a great game," said Lady Roadrunners Basketball Head Coach Kevin Bucher. "We had our chances. I thought Jazzmyn had an outstanding game. We were little bit shorthanded, but still played very well. We just were not able to pull it out."

With the loss, SFCC moves to a record of 4-9, 0-1 in Region 16, and 0-3 in the MCCAC.
