Nov. 2 Dodge City Community College at Sedalia

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners opened their regular season at home with a 56-49 win over the Dodge City (Kansas) Community College Conquistadors Friday (Nov. 2) inside the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center in the opening round of the McDonald's Classic.

SFCC took a 26-24 lead into halftime, but outscored Dodge City 16-9 in the third quarter to take control of the game.

"We were able to make some shots," said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Bucher. "We used the shot clock more and created more open shots as the game progressed."

Sophomore guard Jazzmyn Elston of Rossville, Georgia led the Lady Roadrunners in scoring with 17 points. She also tied for the team lead in steals with two with freshman guard Nokoia White of Ennis, Texas, who also scored 10 points in her first game as a Lady Roadrunner.

Sophomore forward Brionna Hill of Dover, Delaware pulled down a team-high 16 rebounds, while sophomore guards Monique Esbrand of London, England and Farah Mesidor of Kissimmee, Florida had three assists each. Elston and White registered two steals apiece.

November 3 Butler Community College at Sedalia

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners fell to the Butler Community College Grizzlies 85-55 in the second game of the McDonald's Classic. With the loss to the 16th-ranked team in the Division I Women's Basketball Rankings, SFCC fell to 1-1 on the season.

"Butler is a deep team who plays hard and aggressive," said Bucher. "I thought we played pretty well in the first half, but when you play nationally ranked teams like this, you have to have more than nine players. We just have to continue to battle and improve."

Esbrand led SFCC in scoring with 24 points, shooting 50% from the field and went 11 of 14 in free-throw attempts. White pulled down a team-high eight rebounds and sophomore guard Sckiya Banister of Kansas City, Missouri dished out a team-high four assists, while Mesidor registered three steals for the Roadrunners

SFCC will be on the road for the first time this season on Tuesday, Nov.6 traveling to Kansas City to take on Metropolitan Community College. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
