Lady Roadrunners Jan, 6 game recap

Jan. 6, Johnson County Community College at Overland Park, Kansas

The Lady Roadrunners (8-7) traveled to Overland Park on Jan. 6 to take on the Johnson County Community College Lady Cavaliers, the ninth-ranked team in NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball. The game was the first of the spring semester for SFCC. Johnson County outscored SFCC 24-8 in the final quarter to secure the 76-63 victory.

SFCC trailed Johnson County 36-30 at halftime. At the end of the third quarter, the Lady Roadrunners had outscored the Lady Cavaliers 25-16 to lead 55-52.

"I'm proud of the way the women came out and played in the game," said Assistant Basketball Coach Jade Perry. "We played with Johnson County for thirty minutes. It was the fourth quarter that got us."

Freshman guard Jazzmyn Elston led three Lady Roadrunners in double-figure scoring with 13 points.  Sophomore guard Ren'Cia Rolling contributed 11 points, dished out a team-high eight assists and led the team in steals with three. Sophomore guard/forward Catie Kaifes added 10 points and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. Sophomore center Grace Morrow registered a team-high five blocked shots.

SFCC returns to the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center on Tuesday, Jan. 9, to take on Southeastern Community College. Tipoff is 5:30 p.m.
