SFCC Softball Adds Five to 2020-2021 Recruiting Class

State Fair Community College Softball Head Coach Lyndsey Talbot has been busy laying the foundation for her 2021 team. Coach Talbot has announced her first five signees who will begin their academic and athletic career at SFCC in the fall of 2020.

Allison Ferrell is an infielder from Battle High School, who played her high school softball for Head Coach Joe Henderson.

"Allison is a very hard worker, which is a quality I look for in all of our student-athletes," said Talbot. "She is a perfectionist who is always working. Allison will be a good hitter for us, but there's always an adjustment to college pitching. We are excited to have her in our program."

Ellie Eckert is an outfielder from North Callaway High School, where she played for Head Coach Mariah McKee.

"Ellie is a very quick player," said Talbot. "She is one of those players, that the first time I watched her play, she was on first base and I looked down and looked back up and she was on third base. That kind of speed will be exciting to have on the base paths and in the outfield."

Hayley Riebe is a utility player who played her high school softball at St. Charles High School for Head Coach David Jones.

Riebe earned First-Team All-District. She was also named Second-Team All-District and was a two-time First Team All-Conference selection during her prep career.

"Haley is another hard-nosed kid who will find a way to get on base," said Talbot. "She wants to be on the field, no matter where we might need her."

Haley Mackey is a catcher/utility player who plays her high school softball at Lincoln High School for Head Coach Chris Sanders.

Mackey has also been named First-Team All-Region once and Second-Team All-State once. She has earned All-Conference and All-District recognition three times. Mackey has been part of three conference and district championship teams. She helped her team to a third-place finish at State her freshman year. She helped her team to a State Championship as a junior. Mackey still has her senior campaign to play this spring.

"Haley is a solid catcher with a really good bat," said Talbot. "She is a quiet kid who leads by example. She was a catcher for current Lady Roadrunner Aleah Paxton in high school.

Kailee Liles is a utility player from Lee's Summit High School, where she played for Head Coach Joe Rolfing.

"Kailee has a really good throwing arm," said Talbot. "We are hoping to get her in the outfield. That is a need in our 2020 recruiting class. She is another really quiet kid, who doesn't have much to say, but is always doing the right thing. She leads by example."
