Love Earns NFCA All-Region Recognition

State Fair Community College (SFCC) sophomore pitcher Madison Love of Holts Summit has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) NJCAA Divison I Midwest Region Second-Team by NFCA member head coaches within each region. She is the first Lady Roadrunner to earn this honor from the NFCA.

"Madison had a fantastic year," said Lady Roadrunners Softball Head Coach Lyndsey Talbot. "The improvements that she made from her freshman year to her sophomore year really showed. All the awards that she has earned are a tribute to the hard work that she put in in the off-season and over the summer, along with the work she put in throughout the season. Madison constantly worked to improve herself."

As a sophomore she struck out 257 batters, which placed her first on the team and fifth in the country. Love finished second in the nation with 10.46 strikeouts per seven innings. Love led the team with 16 wins and a 2.48 earned run average. She tossed 25 complete games in 26 starts. She also threw the first no-hitter in program history this past season against Independence Community College on March 10. Love only needed 72 pitches to complete the historic outing. She struck out 10 and walked only three batters.

Love hit .357 as a sophomore, which placed her second on the team in batting average. She led the team in home runs with 12 and runs batted in with 49. Love led the team in doubles with 11 and she also had a team-high 55 hits.

She helped her team to a school record 26 wins as a sophomore.
