Love and Watson Earn All-Region Honors

State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners sophomore pitcher/first baseman Madison Love of Holts Summit and sophomore outfielder Jacki Watson of Raytown have earned All-Region honors as voted on by the Region coaches. Love was named to the All-Region 16 First-Team as a pitcher. Watson earned Second-Team honors in the outfield.

Love had a batting average of .357, second on the team. She led the team in home runs with 12, 49 RBI, and 55 hits, 11 of which were doubles (another team high).

She also did the job in the circle for SFCC, where she struck out 257 batters, which placed her first on the team and third in the country. Love led the team with 16 wins and a 2.48 earned run average. She tossed 25 complete games in 26 starts during her sophomore campaign. She also threw the first no-hitter in program history this season.

"Madison was always the first to show up at practice and the last to leave," said Lady Roadrunners Head Softball Coach Lyndsey Talbot. "She would always be the one to carry the heavy equipment bag. She is an all-around great teammate and the type of kid any coach would love to have. Her contribution in the circle will be hard to replace. You don't find a kid every year who is going to strikeout almost 300 batters. She has really changed this program."

Watson had a team-high .386 batting average. She had 39 hits during her sophomore campaign. She finished second on the team in home runs with seven and drove in 23 runs. Watson put together a team-high .703 slugging percentage and led the team with a .488 on-base percentage. The pair led the team to a 26-24 record this season.

"Jacki really came alive at the plate after missing 15 games with an injury," said Talbot. "Her injury happened right in the heart of our season. She came back from her injury and went on a tear for us offensively. She was also an important part of our outfield defense the last two years."
