The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners cross country team placed 16th in the Prairie Fire Pepper race, which was part of the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival in Fayetteville, Arkansas on Saturday, September 28.
Sophomore Justin Horn recorded the best time for SFCC. Horn finished 37th with a time of 28:19.6. Sophomore Josh Schaffart finished 66th with a time of 29:07.3. Sophomore Jess Cornick finished 89th with a time of 30:00.4. Freshman Adam Broekemeier finished 115th in a time of 30:45.0. Freshman Jorge Contreras finished 172nd in a time of 33:46.7. Sophomore Mario Nunez finished 174th with a time of 34:11.8.,
"This was the team's second 8K of the season and with it being only a week away from the first, combined with the continual training from last week, they were stepping to the line a little fatigued," said Assistant Coach Kellin Loch. "We saw some great performances from Josh Schaffart and Justin Horn, who improved on their times from last week. Adam Broekemeier also shaved a considerable amount off his 8k time. The combination of nice weather, the opportunity to compete at an event with some powerhouse schools, and the setting of some season bests made for a successful meet and experience for us as a team."
