Brogdon Competes at Fall National Championship

State Fair Community College (SFCC) golfer Hayden Brogdon of Lebanon, Missouri became the first Roadrunner to represent SFCC at the National Collegiate Club Golf Association Fall National Championship on November 16-17 at the WinStar Golf Club's Scissortail & Redbud Courses in Thackerville, Oklahoma.

Brogdon finished tied for 42nd out of 228 players, with a total score of six over par 150 at the event. Brogdon fired a 72 on Saturday at Scissortail. He followed that up with a 78 at Redbud on Sunday.

"Hayden played very well in the Fall NCCGA National Championship," said Roadrunners Head Golf Coach Wayne Ogle. "His first round 72 was great. He got off to a rocky start, but then battled back to get it to 1 under par for most of the day before eventually giving up a bogey on his 17th hole to go back to even and he was able to finish at even par that day."

The Championship was a 2-day, 36-hole stroke play event along the Red River Valley in Southern Oklahoma.

"Day two was a tough test, "said Ogle. "He was tied for fourth and that added a little extra pressure.  Day two started similar to day one, Hayden found himself two over after two holes.  He battled all day."

The Roadrunners will now shift their focus to preparing for the spring season.

"In the spring of 2020, we will be playing some NCCGA events, and hopefully can get into a local NAIA or NJCAA event," said Ogle "Even though we will not be sanctioned yet, we can still can compete and gain that experience and exposure."
