Franklin and Townsel Earn Postseason Accolades

State Fair Community College (SFCC) sophomores Damaria Franklin and Malcolm Townsel both of Chicago, Illinois have earned postseason honors for their sophomore seasons. Franklin was named to the First-Team All-Region 16 team while Townsel earned Second-Team honors. Franklin was also named to the First-Team Missouri Community College Athletic Conference All-Conference team. Townsel was named to the Second-Team. Franklin is a two-time first team all-region and all-conference recipient.

Franklin started 28 of 30 games and led SFCC in scoring averaging 19.6 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.9 steals, 3.3 assists per game and shot 73.1 percent from the free-throw line. Franklin's scored a personal best 40 points against Moberly Area Community College.

Townsel started 29 of 30 games and shot 53.2percent from the field, averaged 13 points, 2.7 assists and 1.1 steals per game. Townsel scored 34 points against Moberly Area Community College.

The pair helped their team to a 16-14 record during their sophomore season. The team played their best basketball late in the year.

"Obviously, Damaria had a good season," said Roadrunners Head Basketball Coach Matt Brown. "I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't earn some other accolades as well. Malcolm was probably our most improved player from last year."
