Roadrunners Basketball Recaps Nov. 19-23

Nov. 19 Central Methodist University at Sedalia, Missouri

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners defeated the Central Methodist University Eagles 78-56 on Tuesday, Nov. 19 inside the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center. SFCC opened the game with 15-5 lead with about 13 minutes remaining in the opening half on the way to the victory.

Redshirt freshman forward Sarion McGee of Milwaukee, Wisconsin led three Roadrunners in double figures with 13 points. He finished his double-double with a team-high 13 rebounds. Freshman guard John Egbuta of Bronx, New York also recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Freshman forward Michael Wright of Chicago, Illinois pitched in with 11 points. Sophomore guard Keith DeLoatch of Middletown, Delaware dished out a team-high seven assists. Redshirt freshman guard Nate McClure of Houston, Texas pulled down 12 rebounds and added six assists. Every Roadrunner who played scored except for one.

"We tried to get our guys who hadn't been playing a lot into the game tonight," said Roadrunners Basketball Head Coach Matt Brown. "We tried to get the ball inside, but didn't get a lot of scoring. We had some of our guys do some good things off the bench. Nate played well tonight. Michael Wright made some jump shots. It was good win. We were able to get some other guys some minutes."

Nov. 23 Bryant & Stratton College Wauwatosa, Wisconsin

SFCC traveled to Wauwatosa, Wisconsin to pick up a hard-fought 85-84 double-overtime victory (the fourth consecutive win for SFCC ) over Bryant & Stratton College on Saturday, Nov. 23 in a rare morning contest tipping off at 9:30 a.m.

SFCC (7-3) led 40-35 at halftime. The game was tied it 68 at the end of regulation and 75 at the end of the first overtime. SFCC made the plays in the second overtime to secure the victory.

"We faced a lot of adversity," said Brown. "It was a nine hour trip. It was great to get a win. Damaria made a big drive to the basket to score with three seconds to go to put us ahead by one point. They called a timeout and had a last-second opportunity. We did a good job defensively and won the game."

Sophomore forward Malcolm Townsel of Chicago, Illinois led four Roadrunners in double figures with 20 points. McGee registered a double-double with 19 points and a team-high 19 rebounds. Sophomore guard Damaria Franklin of Chicago, Illinois added 17 points and three assists. Sophomore guard Kailleb Walton-Blanden of Rapid City, South Dakota pitched in with 11 points. He also dished out three assists.
