SFCC Hosts Eighth Annual Golf Tournament

State Fair Community College held its eighth annual golf tournament on Monday, July 22 at the Sedalia Country Club. Seventy-two teams participated in the fundraiser benefitting the Roadrunner athletic programs.

 

"All of the funds raised at this event go toward athletic scholarships for each program," said Softball Head Coach Lyndsey Talbot. "From a coach's perspective, it is a huge advantage because you have kids that you want to reward for good academic performances or excellent play on the field."

 

The tournament split teams into four different flights.

 

The team of Mark Quattlebaum, Scott Benbrook, and Jason Curry won the Championship Flight with a score of 58. Mark Carey, Steve Carey, and Dillon Brasher finished second with a score of 60. Jackson Kempton, Adam Nashed, and Donald Strimble finished third with a score of 60, the tie was broken by a scorecard playoff. The team of Brad Pistel, Chad Lance, and Chad McGraw finished fourth with a score of 61.

 

The team of Dennis Paul, Robbie Paul, and Shane Paul won the A Flight with a score of 64. Clayton Alcorn, Lynda Alcorn, and Mike Smethers finished second with a team score of 64, which was broken in a scorecard playoff. The team of Andre Luyet, Robbie Campbell, and Alec Luyet finished third with a score of 65. The team of Dallas Baldwin, Greg Hutinger, and Joe Beykirch finished in fourth place with score of 65.

 

Anthony Wilkinson, A.J. Wilkinson, and Al Simon won the B Flight with a score of 68. The team of Isaac Garber, Chris Gump, and MikeWeber finished second with a score of 68, the tie was broken by a scorecard playoff. The team of Jesse Hamilton, Stan Taylor, and Mark Johnson finished third with a score 68, which was broken by a scorecard playoff. The team of Brandon Martin, Nick Moon, and Nick Toalson finished fourth with a score of 68, which was broken by scorecard playoff.

 

The team of Ken Weymuth, Kim Anderson, and Karson Weymuth won the C flight with a score of 72. The team of Steve Hockett, Eric Mateja, and Joren Trimble finished second with a score of 72, which was broken by a scorecard playoff. Phil Latta, Amanda Hill, and Larry Hill finished third with a score 72, which was broken by a scorecard playoff. The team of Chris Webb, Jacob Meellck, and Will Register finished fourth with a score of 73.

 

The SFCC athletic department would like to thank the following sponsors, without their support this event would not be possible. "We had a beautiful day to play on a great golf course," said SFCC Athletic Director Darren Pannier. "I would like to thank all of the people at the Sedalia Country Club for their help in putting on the tournament and everyone who participated in the tournament. The funds raised will provide scholarships, which will help our athletic department with our main goal, which is graduating our student-athletes, as well as continuing to compete on the regional and national level."
