Issa Makes College Choice

State Fair Community College (SFCC) sophomore midfielder Buhirwa Issa of Fort Worth, Texas recently announced that he will continue his academic and athletic career at Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas.

As a sophomore, Issa helped his team to a 5-6-4 record. Issa played in 11 games, starting in one. He recorded an assist against Metropolitan Community College. He took 16 shots, seven of which were on target during his sophomore campaign.

"He is one of the hardest workers that I have ever coached," said Roadrunners Soccer Head Coach Jaime Beltran. "He was a leader for our team, even when he wasn't starting. When he got his opportunity to start, he continued to put in the effort that earned him that chance. He was a contributor for us the entire season, but he really upped his game as the season went on."

As a freshman, Issa played in 16 games, starting in four for the Roadrunners. He also recorded one assist as a freshman against Central Methodist University. He took seven shots, four of which were on target, helping his team to an 8-10-1 record.

"We are very proud of him," said Beltran. "It did not come easy for him, but he never gave up and overcame every adversity that was put in his way. I am very proud that he was able to graduate. He came here with me from Jarvis Christian College and helped us lay the foundation for our program. He was one of the first two kids that I recruited when I got here."
