Esbrand Makes College Decision

State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners sophomore guard Monique Esbrand of London, England has chosen to continue her academic and athletic career at Miami University, a Division I school in Oxford, Ohio. Esbrand helped SFCC to a 7-18 record in her final year.

Esbrand was named to the Missouri Community College Athletic Conference First-Team as a sophomore. She averaged a team-high 37.6% of her shots from beyond the arc this season, while starting in 21 of 22 games. Esbrand led the team in rebounds, assists, and steals with eight, three, 1.3 per game respectively.

Esbrand finished second on the team in scoring with 11.9 points per game. She finished second on the team in free-throw percentage at 79.8. During her sophomore campaign, she scored a season-high 24 points twice, once against Butler Community College, with the other game against Jefferson College.

As a freshman, Esbrand played in 27 games, starting in 15. She scored 5.6 points per game, while dishing out 1.7 assists. She pulled down four rebounds per game from a guard position.

"They wanted a player with speed and athleticism who could also be a good defender," said Lady Roadrunners Head Basketball Coach Kevin Bucher. "Monique demonstrated all those qualities during her time here at SFCC. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to continue her academic and athletic career. Coach (Jade) Perry and I are both extremely happy for Monique."
