Elston Announces College Plans

State Fair Community College (SFCC) sophomore guard Jazzmyn Elston of Rossville, Georgia recently signed her National Letter of Intent to attend Division I Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky. Elston earned First-Team All-Region 16 honors and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference First-Team accolades.

Elston led her team in scoring with 15.9 points per game while playing in 24 games and starting in 21. Elston scored a season-high 29 points against Dodge City Community College. She knocked down a team-high 83.1% of her free-throw attempts (tied for 17th in the country) and registered 1.2 steals per contest (second on the team).

As a freshman, Elston earned Second-Team All-Region and Second-Team All-Conference honors. She finished third on the team in scoring with 12.6 points per game, playing in 29 games and starting in 15. She scored a season-high 27 points against North Arkansas College. She knocked down 45.8% of her three-point attempts, which tied for the team lead. She also registered 1.2 steals per game as a freshman.

"Jazzmyn is a very good scorer from the guard position," said Lady Roadrunners Basketball Head Coach Kevin Bucher. "Morehead State needed players capable of stepping in and playing right away. They also needed to bring in some scoring as well as some experience. She has been one of our leading scorers for the last two years. We wish Jazzmyn the very best as she gets the opportunity to play closer to home. We are very excited and hope she takes full advantage of the opportunity."
