State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners Basketball Head Coach Kevin Bucher has announced the first three additions to his 2019-2020 recruiting class. They have all signed their National Letters of Intent and will begin their academic and athletic careers at SFCC in the fall.
Sanaa Mason is a 5'10'' shooting guard from Grandview, Missouri. She played her high school basketball at Grandview High School for Head Coach Heath Cooper.
Mason averaged 10 points per game as a senior. She pulled down 5.5 rebounds and dished out three assists per game.
"Sanaa is a big, strong guard," said Bucher. "She is athletic and attacks the rim. She can stop and hit the pull-up jump shot. She was part of a very good Grandview team this past year."
During her senior campaign, Grandview finished one game short of the state final four.
"Sanaa will fit well into our style of play," said Bucher. "We look forward to having her as part of our team next season."
Mason is undecided on a major at SFCC.
Darlisha Reed is a 5'11'' guard/forward who played her high school basketball at Donald E. Gavit High School in Hammond, Indiana for Head Coach Alana Anderson.
"Darlisha handles the ball well," said Bucher." She does a lot of things well from the outside. She just needs to improve her lateral movement. Darlisha is one of the top players in the state of Indiana. She led the state in rebounds per game as a senior. She is an academic qualifier. She is an athletic player who can score and rebound. We are extremely excited to have Darlisha."
Reed averaged a double-double as a senior with 24.8 points per game and 15.3 rebounds. She also registered three assists and three steals per game as a senior. She scored over 1,000 points and recorded 1,000 rebounds during her high school career.
Reed is a member of the National Honor Society at her high school and wants to major in biomedical engineering.
Laila McNeal is a 5'7'' guard from Florissant, Missouri. She played her high school basketball for Head Coach Tammy Talbert at Alton High School in Alton, Illinois.
"Laila is a hard-nosed player who loves to play defense," said Bucher. "She can score from the outside and also can also knock down the pull-up jump shot. She played on a high school team that was well balanced. She plays very hard. We found out about her through former Lady Roadrunner LaTice Jones."
McNeal was named the team's Most Valuable Player and Second-Team All-Conference during her high school career. She averaged 11.8 points a game as a senior.
She is undecided on a major.
